Overview
The Compaq 40/80 DLT (DLT8000) Tape Drive is a
high-capacity, high-performance streaming tape drive designed for
use with Compaq ProLiant servers and AlphaServers. The drive has a
multi-channel read/write head, uses a Digital Lempel-Ziv (DLZ) high
efficiency data compression algorithm, and has a filing system to
maximize data while minimizing data access time. The Compaq
40/80 DLT (DLT8000) Tape Drive delivers higher performance, greater
capacity, increased reliability, and more functionality than it's
predecessor. The Compaq 40/80 DLT (DLT8000) Tape Drive provides a
native storage capacity of 40 gigabytes (GB) and a native transfer
rate of 6 megabytes per second (MB/sec). This represents a 15
percent higher capacity and 20 percent faster throughput than the
Compaq 35/70 DLT (DLT7000) tape drive.

Overview
The DIGITAL TZ89 DLT Tape Drive elevates
the digital linear tape (DLT) family to new levels of capacity and
performance. The TZ89 offers a capacity of 35 GB native (70 GB
compressed) per cartridge and a transfer rate of 5 MB/second
(native). It provides high-end workstations, as well as network
servers and systems, with enhanced, unattended backup/restore and
archival capabilities. These capabilities, combined with the
high-reliability and industry-leading data integrity of the DLT
medium, make the TZ89 a truly heavy-duty tape drive for hierarchical
storage management (HSM), image/multimedia storage, archiving,
near-on-line storage, and unattended backup
applications.

Overview
The ESL9326D and ESL9326DX
provide highly reliable automated backup and restore capabilities
within the enterprise storage market. Containing 326 slots and up
to 16 Compaq 35/70 or 40/80 DLT drives, the ESL9326D has a native
capacity of 11.4 Terabytes and a throughput of up to 288 GB/hour,
while the ESL9326DX has a native capacity of 13.04 Terabytes and
a throughput of up to 345.6 GB/hour, and are qualified on Windows
NT, Tru64 Unix, and OpenVMS Operating Systems using industry standard
application software (including those which offer multi-host connectivity),
and as a direct attached device behind existing Alpha and ProLiant
server platforms.
With a PCI backplane
incorporated into its architecture, ESL9000 libraries can easily
accept future product enhancements such as Fibre channel cards,
network administration cards, hardware RAIT, or a library thin
server card for direct NAS control. The ESL9326D and DX have the
capability for multi-unit scalability, up to 5 libraries can be
scaled together in a "virtual library" using Passthrough kits.
The ESL9326D and ESL9326DX can be scaled together or with the
ESL9198DLX library.
